My name is Joey, and I am a seasoned UX/UI Designer and Developer with 15 years of professional experience in the industry.

My journey in web development began in the early 2000s, when I started as a high school hobbyist designing websites with GIMP and developing table-based HTML/CSS using Notepad. At the time, I was running Ubuntu on a homebuilt computer and deploying websites and applications on my home network.

My passion for technology led me to pursue a degree in Computer Science in 2007, where I received formal training in professional web development and UX design. During college, I developed custom dynamic websites using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and MySQL, and built over 100 websites—many of which were pro bono projects.

In my junior year, I shifted my academic focus to Political Science and Philosophy with the intention of pursuing a career in law. After taking the LSAT in my senior year and being accepted into a law program set to begin in the Fall of 2012, I decided to accept a position as a junior web developer for a prominent retail company in Sacramento. This role allowed me to contribute to the development of their inaugural eCommerce platform, marking my first significant professional project.

During this period, I was presented with an opportunity to join a funded health tech startup focused on building an in-home caregiving platform. Embracing the chance to work on an innovative product, I chose to fully commit to my career in web development and UX/UI design, a field I have passionately pursued since 2011. Over the years, I have worked in various roles within web and product development, continually expanding my expertise and contributing to impactful projects.
